Dear Jazz fans, I am back on line with my web site.  Here in France the ISP (internet service providers) is hard to set-up.  First, they are all in French and one must log on over the phone line while the French voice prompts you to enter your information.  Well, I figured I would just get a French friend to help me gear up and get online.  Almost two months later, a real friend, Catherine has stepped up and helped me to be here today online.  AOL was charging me tons for logging on from France.  That had to stop. 

Now I can do my updates and photo’s in a more timely basis.  A lot has been happening for me here in Paris.  I will be leaving on July 22, to a Festival in the South of France with Alan Silva and Catherine.  I will be going down to set up and sell the “Treasure Boxes” designed and created by Alan and Catherine.  This I hope will also be a chance to meet other like minded artist here in France.  We will return on August 2^nd.   In September I will be performing at the Plates De Louvre for two days with Alan and others to be announced.

Speaking of meeting artist, I am no longer a musician.  I am from this moment on a Performing Artist.  This transformation is long over due and has been clouded by the non directional lifestyle employed by most American musicians I was involved with in California.  Not to put anyone down.  It’s just the way we were taught  to be Musicians not Artist.  Look out world, my eye have been opened and I will be bringing a whole new deal when I pick up my bass.

I have recorded a Performance Video which will be coming out as a DVD.  This is not just a video of a gig.  It is edited into a real top flight performance.  This should be ready for my site at the end of August.  Also, sound bites from the video should be on the site also. 

Anyway, glad to be back on line and updating you as to what’s happening with Farris Smith.
